Hardware

Signametrics SMU4084 is a USB switch matrix module with 234 independent SPST (Form A) Solid State Relays (SSR). It is capable of connecting any of the 26 columns and 9 rows, using 234 cross-point connections.

Full control over each relay allows for an unlimited configurations, from 2-Wire to 4-Wire, two or four groups, differential or single ended. Several Pre-programmed configurations are provided via software command.

Any row can be connected to any column, with the possibility to select upto 100 switches at a time. Interface is easy to the widely accepted 78 pin sub-D connector.

A widely accepted 78 pin sub-D interface connector and the optional SM44 screw terminal accessory make the SMU4084 user friendly.

A DMM, or other external instrument may be precisely synchronized via isolated trigger input and output. Multiple SMU4082 and SMU4084 Switches may be added in order to increase the number of columns and/or rows.

Applications

The SMU4084 is ideal for signal switching and signal routing.

Ease of Use

The onboard controller reduces software control to a high level set of commands, simplifying programming and minimizing the overhead associated with other switching modules. It also facilitates on-the-fly configuration.

Software

The software included with the SMU4084 contains a simple, quick and clean installation package. The installation footprint is small, using less then twenty-five megabytes of disk space, and it does not make changes to any of your S/W tools, or your computer environment. Neither does it insert extensive hooks into your operating system or other installed programs. Once this Plug-and-Play package is installed, a virtual instrument control panel is available to try out your SMU4084. All of the relays are accessable from this panel, with additional control functions in the top menu. You have the option to control the SMU4084 without doing any programming or configuration straight out of the box.

The SMU4084 supports automated control in a wide variety of programming languages. Signametrics has no vested interest in which software package you use. Our support include the following languages C, C++, C#, .NET, Visual Basic, Mat Lab, Delphi, LabView, LabWindows/CVI, ATEasy, FoxPro, HPVee, and Microsoft Excel with VBA. Operating systems include Windows and Linux. If you have questions about software support, or whether Signametrics supports another language, operating system, or platform, contact Signametrics support.

Accessories

For ease of use, two optional modules are available. A Screw Terminal Block to simplify wiring, and a Loopback test module for comprehensive testing.

See SMU2055, SMU2055-C, SMU2060 and SMU2064 for compatible USB Digital Multimeters. For an Instrumentation quality USB Relay Multiplexer, see the SMU4032, or SMU4030 for a high current high voltage alternative.
